Why yes the bus did need to turn down a one-way street. it was necessary for the layout of panel 2 and if it happens to imply that people put on the bus are being railroaded I’m alright with mixing metaphors.
Speaking of the layout, this page took a while to get going since the script didn’t really rely on any visuals. And what do you draw people doing when they don’t need to be doing anything? The answer, of course, is have something else going on that adds to the story.

I believe strongly in reconstructing tropes not just deconstructing them and giving up. Plus it lets me be meta about some topics I strongly believe in. I suspect it might actually be one of the core reasons I create art, which muddles my understanding of Scott McCloud’s division of why people make art (Idea vs Form) since reconstruction is basicly ideas about form, but that just means I have some more philosophical brainstorming to do.
